'Lost' writer Damon Lindelof developing new sci-fi movie for Disney:

Get your head-scratching finger geared up once again, Lost fans. Damon Lindelof, one half of the writing team for the dearly departed ABC series, has been tapped by Disney to write and produce a science-fiction project tentatively titled 1952.
Want to know more details? You’ll have to wait — the studio is keeping mum on the specifics for now. One thing we do know: Entertainment Weekly senior writer Jeff “Doc” Jensen — EW’s point person on all things Lost — is collaborating with Lindelof on 1952. “I’m really excited about this project,” says Jensen. “It’s in the very early stages, so there’s nothing I can really say about it at this time.”
The duo’s relationship began after Lost ended in May 2010. Per Time Inc. policy, Jensen will continue to report and write about TV series and films — excluding those produced by Disney and its affiliates.

Diego Luna in talks for 'Elysium':
Diego Luna is in talks to join Elysium, director Neil Blomkamp’s District 9 follow-up that will star Matt Damon, Jodie Foster, and Sharlto Copley. A spokesperson for the production confirmed a Variety story, which reported that Luna, best known for Y Tu Mama Tambien and Milk, could play Damon’s character’s best friend during a war between aliens and humans. The film is scheduled for release in March 2013.

'Super 8' Makes $1.5M in Early Screenings':
J.J. Abrams' "Super 8" scared up roughly $1 million in 324 locations on Thursday as part of an advance Twitter-sponsored set of screenings, according to studio estimates.
In addition, it added $500,000 to that take with a set of midnight screenings in 1,200 theaters.
Cloaked in secrecy, the monster movie arrives with little star power save for its big name director and executive producer Steven Spielberg. Though tracking had initially been soft, an aggressive television ad buy from Paramount and strong word-of-mouth will probably drive the horror film to an over $35 million opening.
The movie opens Friday at 3,379 locations.
